Recommendations for seniors and seniors (over 60 years old) on the prevention of coronavirus infection (COVID-19 infection)

General recommendations

Don't leave your home and meet other people unless absolutely necessary.

Postpone birthday and other celebrations.

Postpone visits to health care facilities unless urgent treatment is required.

Do not invite guests or visit yourself (including family members).

Postpone contact with children and grandchildren for a while (children are not at risk and the disease goes away easily for them, but in the same family they are more likely to infect grandparents).

Avoid crowded places (public transport, shops, clinics, pharmacies, exhibitions, theaters, hobby clubs, etc.).

Avoid contact with people returning from abroad. Avoid close contact with people who have signs of a respiratory illness (cough, runny nose, fever).

Stay about two arm lengths from them.

Use a mask in case of possible contact with sick people.

Avoid shaking hands and kissing when greeting.

Wash your hands with soap and water as often as possible (at least 20 seconds), use a liquid antiseptic (gel) or antiseptic wet wipes to treat your hands.

Ventilate the room where you are as often as possible and carry out wet cleaning by wiping all surfaces (especially carefully - doorknobs, handrails, tables, chairs, computer keyboards and mice, telephones, control panels, and other objects that you touch in everyday life) ...

Plan your life!

If possible, do not go to the store and the pharmacy yourself, ask your relatives or social worker to do this. If you have to go to shops and pharmacies on your own, then do it as little as possible and follow the above general recommendations.

If you need to issue prescriptions for medicines for continuous use, previously prescribed by a doctor, call the registry, information desk or call center of the health care institution in your place of residence, leave your contacts (name, address, phone number), a medical worker will contact you, which organizes the discharge and delivery of prescriptions to your home.

If possible, make a list of the most important purchases from the store and pharmacy, asking someone to make purchases and leave them in front of the door of the apartment (house).

Food with a long shelf life and food that needs to be stored in the refrigerator and frozen, pack in separate bags and place in the refrigerator, then wash your hands thoroughly.

You need to think about what to do in case you need medical attention.

Make an agreement with relatives (acquaintances) whom you can call in case of illness.

Make sure you have written down all the required phone numbers.

Make sure that your relatives (acquaintances) know what medications you need on a daily basis or know where it can be clarified. Write the list of medicines and the order of taking medicines on paper and leave them in a visible place, for example, attach them to the refrigerator door.

If you need to be examined by a medical professional due to deterioration of health, call the reception, information desk or call center of the health care institution at your place of residence, inform about it, leave your contacts (name, address, phone number), during the working day with you a medical professional will contact and agree on a time for a home visit.

Maintain your psychological state!

Read and listen to less news that causes anxiety, worry, and stress.

Trust information only from reliable sources and mainly in order to receive guidance on planning further actions and protecting yourself and your loved ones.

Take breaks from watching, reading or listening to news, talk shows, and social media.

Take care of your body. Try to eat healthy foods, exercise regularly and move around at home, sleep a lot, and avoid alcohol and smoking.

Take time to relax. Try doing other things that you enjoy.

Arrange with loved ones (acquaintances) that you will regularly call them up and report your problems and how you feel.
