From January 1, 2021, we will begin the transition to the use of biometric documents. Instead of the usual paper passports, a plastic ID-card will be used to verify the identity, on the chips of which all personal information and biometric data are stored. However, an ID-card is not only and not so much an identity document, but also an electronic key that will let us into the nationwide automated information system. There we will be able to virtually, without leaving home, order and receive the necessary certificates, put the child on the queue for kindergarten and do much more. The world is moving towards digitalization, switching to electronic documentation, and our country is no exception. In the national automated information system (OAIS), on a large server where information is stored, an e-government platform is created: state bodies, institutions and organizations have their own databases, registers, and can also exchange information there. True, due to some difficulties with identification, it is still available for the most part to legal entities. To open the platform for all citizens and provide them with electronic services, the Belarusian Integrated Service and Settlement System (BISRS) was created. The Ministry of Communications and Informatization told “R” how much it will simplify administrative procedures for us and how ID-cards are related to it.
